Man accused of stealing his own car

Cincinnati police officers seized Joey Martin’s Ford Taurus Monday after they found him passed out behind the wheel.

Martin, 29, Independence, Ky., was taken to University Hospital for treatment, before he would be arrested and taken to the Hamilton County jail.

But Martin really wanted his car back.

Cincinnati police say Martin walked away from the hospital, went to the city impound lot on Spring Grove Avenue in Camp Washington and stole his own car, almost running over a tow-truck driver in the process.

Police tried to stop him, but Martin kept on going.

He was arrested on charge of speeding, auto theft, escape and reckless operation after officers finally caught up to him on Interstate 75, a report says.

Hamilton County Municipal Judge Bernie Bouchard ordered Martin held on $13,500 bond.
