let me tell you about our day. ginger had an appointment with dr. kittle this afternoon to have her spay stitches removed. she tolerated that well. then i brought up the subject of having her micro-chipped, in case she ever was lost. they quoted me prices and then took her to the back exam room to have the chip inserted. they came straight back and said "guess what... she's already micro-chipped!" to prove it to me, they scanned the wand over her, and sure enough, a number popped up on the screen. they thought it was very strange that she had been previously micro-chipped but not spayed.

so i came home and called the company with the micro-chip i.d. #. about 30 minutes later, some old man called me. he said the micro-chip company had called him to say someone had his dog! i was terrified that he was going to take her back. but he was a very nice old man and said he had owned her from birth, and she had been used for breeding puppies, but that he had sold her off about 3 months ago (to the rescue group i got her from) when he thought she was done having puppies. (whew)

he told me all about her 'former' life. she was actually born 09-20-2002 (so she's almost 7, instead of being 4 like the vet thought) and her real name was 'shady long trixie'. ginger and i discussed it and we both decided we liked the name 'ginger' better so that's what it will stay. now i have to work on getting the micro-chip i.d. information transferred from this old man's name to my name. he wasnt sure how to do that but i'll call the company again tomorrow. and that was our day.
